| Salem State
College students, Victor Aleixo, David Jones, Kelley Meier, Lia
Moore, and Jack Suslak won the World Geography Bowl at the annual
meeting of the New England – St. Lawrence Valley Division
(NESTVAL) of the Association of American Geographers held in Hartford,
CT on October 10, 2003. The team won after a nail-biting final
with Keene State College (New Hampshire). In earlier competition
they placed ahead of Central Connecticut State University of Maine
at Farmington. This is the second time in five years that Salem
State College has won the competition. David Jones along with
Victor Aleixo have been invited to represent New England at the
national Geography Bowl next March in Philadelphia. Professors
John Hayes and Steven Silvern coached the team. |
